DAY 1: Pick Up from Lima Airport

Arrive in Lima and transfer to hotel in Miraflores Lima, Hotel 4-5 stars. Meals : Non

DAY 2: Cusco Sacred Valley

Flight to Cusco, reception in the morning, transfer to hotel in the Sacred Valley. Along the way a visit to an Important Sanctuary of typical animals of the Andes and Amazon, Pisac artesany market. Lunch at House museum in “Huayocari” and finally to Hotel in Sacred Valley Hotel “Sol y Luna” or “Hotel Tambo del Inca”. (B,L)

DAY 3: Beginning of the Inca Trail – Km 82 of the Trailtrakcs

Two options of tours:

A) In the morning a visit to Chinchero Inca village and its well-known ladies weavers with workshop there. Later a visit to Moray Inca agriculture laboratories, lunch there at Moray, and finally to the Salt mines. Back to Hotels , Hotel “Sol y Luna” or “Tambo del Inca”. (B,L)

B) In the morning a visit to the important fortress of Ollantaytambo, after that, a unique travel up through the mountains to remote Inca´s descendent communities of “Patacancha and Willoq”, to learn their ways of living, visiting their schools and your chance to donate charities to that community or to the Children´s School.
Afternoon, a visit to Ollantaytambo town, later to a workshop of Inca´s beer “Chicha” , and finally back to your hotel in Urubamba town, Hotel “Sol y Luna” or “Tambo del Inca”. (B,L)

DAY 4: Wallabamba to Pacaymayo

Train to Machu Picchu, a complete tour of the so famous Inca citadel, lunch at luxury hotel Sanctuary Lodge in the same Machu Picchu Inca city. Train Vistadome service.
Afternoon down to hotel “Inkaterra” or “Casa del Sol” Boutique hotels.

DAY 5: Pacaymayo to Phuyupatamarca

Back to Machu Picchu for detours or extensions, a hike to the Sungate or to the Inca bridge.

Or a challenging climb to Huaynapicchu mountain.

Afternoon train and private van to Cusco. Return train with Vistadome service, or “Hiram bingham super luxury train”at request. (B)

DAY 6: Phuyupatamarca to Machu Picchu

A free day in Cusco, options: to visit some important museums, the main food market “San Pedro” the Chocolate museum, the art district San Blas etc. (optional with a private tour guide to also visit the massive fortress Sacsayhuayman and other ruins outside Cusco at extra cost) or just by yourselves. DAY 7: Exploring Machu Picchu – return to Cusco

Transfer to Cusco Airport for flight to Lima for your international departure.

*Or optional extension to Lake Titicaca tour (3 days) or Amazon jungleTambopata tours (4 days) which are in the same southern region.

  • Lunch and dinner on the last day: after the guided tour at Machupicchu, you can enjoy free time to further visit the ruins and choose to have lunch either in Machupicchu or in Aguas Calientes at your own expense. Arrival in Cusco is estimated after nightfall, dinner being at your own expense too
  • Visit to the hot springs in Aguas Calientes: a relaxing way to end-up the trek while you’re awaiting the return train to Cusco, only 10 minutes from the village center, the entrance fee is Peruvian Soles s/10.00 per person. Towels can be hired in Aguas Calientes

Travel Info

  • A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek
  • Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco)
  • Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended
  • Sandals or jogging shoes for a higher comfort while at camp
  • Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping
  • Flashlight/headlamp and batteries
  • Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
  • Sun block
  • After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body
  • Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% DEET – no malaria risk has been reported
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Toilet paper
  • Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc. Please note that we do provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. This recommendation applies for all clients being used to a specific snack, as it may happen that it is not included in our selection
  • Non-disposable canteen (Nalgene type) and water for the first morning. Optionally: water -sterilizing tablets in case you pick up water from streams or rivers along the route. Otherwise, we provide filtered boiled water, which is safe to drink and has not reported any health problem so far

Weather in the Andes can be unpredictable ranging from hot and sunny to rain, wind and cold. Hikers should be prepared with proper gear and be ready for variable weather conditions throughout the day.

Small changes in the itinerary are a possibility as well as trip cancellations due to bad weather. We reserve the right to cancel a trip if we feel conditions are unsafe. If this happens you will be refunded your deposit in full (see full Terms & Conditions), however, trips still go out when there is rain, snow or fog.

Temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius in the morning to 15 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
